(JW Insights) Jul 6 -- Chinese consumer electronics supplier TCL proposed achieving a carbon peak no later than 2030 and carbon neutrality no later than 2050 in a white paper released at its Global Ecosystem Partner Conference on July 6 in Wuhan, central China’s Hubei Province.
The company also released its carbon-neutral action plan TCLGreen, aiming to build a green ecological benchmark for the manufacturing industry and accelerate the green transformation of the industry chain.
Earlier this year, at the 2023 Summer Davos Forum, TCL founder and chairman Li Dongsheng remarked that green development is not an option but a must. TCL has taken the green development strategy into a long-term business strategy.
Wang Cheng, Chief Operating Officer of TCL Technology, introduced practical cases of carbon neutrality. TCL has established a carbon emission management system and estimated that the company’s overall greenhouse gas emissions are 8.16 million tons of carbon dioxide. Its overall business growth is expected to increase carbon emissions by 58% in 2050.
To minimize their operating emissions, TCL also put forward the photovoltaic roof, source network loaded storage, self-sustaining power station, green electricity green, energy-saving technical eight emissions, and offset measures. They help lift green electricity proportion and establish waste products recycling and utilization system, Wang added.
